Solving quadratics by completing the squares n2 8n 43 5So

Solving quadratics by completing the squares n^2 - 8n - 43 = 5

Solution

n2-8n-43=5

we have to make the complete square,adding 16 to both sides we get

n2-8n+16-43=5+16

(n-4)2=21+43

(n-4)2=64=82

or n-4=8

n=8+4

n=12
