Local Machine makes one type of gear using 2 machining centers. In their plant (machine A and B) only one machine can be run each day. Matinence cost per day are;

Machine A: $1000

Machine B:$2000

Manufacturing costs per gear are $10 for A and $20 for B

The max production per day is $3000 on A and $2000 on B

Local Machine must make 1800 gears to ship per day.

Develop an IP model for minimizing cost.

Solution

By seeing the problem we can easily say that no need to use machine B as maintainence cost is more plus production cost is more plus output is less thus machine A is far better then B

So producing 1800 gears a day it will cost 1000+ 10*1800 = 19000
