In 2014 the number of days the average employee at BBK called out sick was 15 days.
BBK has started a new policy that employees will lose their sick days and they want to determine if this is increasing the number of days employees call out sick.
From the sample of 8 employees below using a .05 significance level, can you formulate the decision rule? (State rejection region)
Standard deviation of the data set below is 1.54

| 15 | 20 | 23 | 17 | 9 | 14 | 18 | 13 |
Solution
15,20,23,17,9,14,18,13
the mean will be 129/8 = 16.125
H0 = 15
Ha >15
significance = 0.05
std dev = 1.54
5% of 15 = 0.75
hence anything between 14.25 to 15.75 is ok with to accept the hypothesis
but we get 16.125 which is above the significance level hence we will reject the null hypothesis.
