Then. 2.71 s later, it moves at the velocity 1.71 m/s. What is the chipmunk\'s average acceleration during the 2.71-s time interval?

Solution

Vf = 1.71 meters per sec. and Vi = -1.13 meters per sec.
Then Vf - Vi = 1.71 -(-1.13) = 2.84 meters per sec.
The time interval (tf - ti) is 2.71 seconds - we are given this value
So the average acceleration a = 2.84 / 2.71 = 1.048 m/s²
