From the balanced molecular equations write the complete ion
From the balanced molecular equations, write the complete ionic and net ionic equations for the following. (Use the lowest possible whole number coefficients. Include states-of-matter under the given conditions in your answer.)
a)CaCO3(s) + H2SO4(aq) CaSO4(s) + CO2(g) + H2O(l) *Need complete ionic and net ionic equations
b)K2C2O4(aq) + Cd(OH)2(aq) 2 KOH(aq) + CdC2O4(s) *Need complete ionic and net ionic equations
c)Zn(NO3)2(aq) + H2SO4(aq) ZnSO4(s) + 2 HNO3(aq) *Need complete ionic and net ionic equations
Solution
a) Molecular equation :-
CaCO3(s) + H2SO4 (aq) ------> CaSO4(s) + CO2(g) + H2O(l)
Ionic equation:-
CaCO3(s) + 2H^+(aq) + SO4^2-(aq) -----> CaSO4(s) + CO2(g) + H2O(l)
Net ionic equation :- There is no spectator ions hence net ionic equation will be same as ionic equation
b) Molecular equation :-
K2C2O4(aq) + Cd(OH)2(aq) ----> 2 KOH(aq) + CdC2O4(s)
Ionic equation:-
2 K^+(aq) + C2O4^2-(aq) + Cd^2+(aq) + 2 OH^-(aq) ----> 2K^+(aq) + 2 OH^-(aq) + CdC2O4 (s)
Net ionic equation :- cancel out same ions from ionic equation
C2O4^2-(aq) + Cd^2+(aq) -----> CdC2O4 (s)
c) Molecular equation :-
Zn(NO3)2(aq) + H2SO4(aq) ------> ZnSO4(s) + 2HNO3(aq)
Ionic equation :-
Zn^2+(aq) + 2NO3^-(aq) + 2H^+(aq) + SO4^2-(aq) ----> ZnSO4(s) + 2H^+(aq) + 2NO3^-(aq)
Net ionic equation :- Cancel out same ions from Ionic equation
Zn^2+(aq) + SO4^2-(aq) ----> ZnSO4 (s)
