Two PC\'s are connected to a switch. The IP addresses of the PC\'s are as follows: PCI (192.168.1.2) is connected to port 2 on the switch and PC2 (192.168.1.3) is connected to port 3 on the switch. Does the switch need an IP address for PCI to communicate with PC2? What would be the mac-address learned by the switch on port 2
Solution
Answer:
A) It depends on what type of switch we are using . There is Layer 2 , Layer 3 switches , unambigious switches, web managed switches. So it depends on what type of switch we are using.
B) Since the port 2 is connected with IP address 192.168.1.2 , it is class C IP address , its MAC address will be 255.255.255.0
