Consider the circuit diagrammed at the right which has three different bulbs connected, each in its own loop, to a battery. In the circuit the oval bulb is brightest, the rectangular bulb second and the circular bulb is dimmest. What, if anything, will be the same for all three bulbs? What is your evidence/reasoning for this contention? What, if anything, will be different for the three bulbs? What is your evidence/reasoning for this contention?
Solution
Here ,
I = 5 * sin(120 *pi * t) + 11 * sin(240 * pi * t)
1)
1) as all the bulbs are in parallel
for all the bulbs , the voltage applied across the bulbs will be same.
evidence : As all the bulbs are in parallel.
2)
for all the bulbs , Resistance and Current across the bulbs will be different.
as the brightness for the bulbs will be given as
P = V^2/R = I^2 * R = V * I
as the potential across all the bulbs the same.
the current will be different across the bulbs
Resistance of the bulbs will be same.
