Commonly there are 3 types of carbohydrates-monosaccharides which are having one type of sugar like glucose,disaccharides are formed by joining two monosaccharides like sucrose through glucose and fructose, and polysaccharides are a long chain of monosaccharides where the chains may be branched or unbranched like starch composed of amylose,amylopectin,and modified starches.
