10 g of water H2O is contained in a cylinder with a weighted

10 g of water (H2O) is contained in a cylinder with a weighted floating top, which keeps the water at a constant pressure of 200 kPa. If the water is a saturated liquid (x = 0), what is the volume of the water? What is the temperature of the water?

Solution

Corresponding to saturation pressure of 200 kPa or 2 bar, the saturation temperature is = 120.2 oC and specific volume = 0.001061 m^3/Kg. (from steam table)

So, the volume of the water = 0.001061*0.01 m^3 = 0.00001061 m^3

Temperature = 120.2 oC
