Ok, so if I add 5 g of antifreeze to 100g of water and freeze it, what would you expect the temperature of the solution to be after 30 mins of melting (leaving it out at room temperature)? I know there is no exact answer to this. Its for a lab.

Solution

It will not freeze even if the temperature goes below 0 C. (antifreeze is added for this purpose only). Only at temperature very lower than 0 , the water will freeze. So after 30 minutes , the solid will melt but it might not get enough energy from the environment to go above 0 degree celsius.
