Solution
A project manager handles a specific project. He/she remains responsible for the enter operations of the project environment, project team and project operations. He may or may not hold the technical capabilities to handle the project technical work but carries the power to manage the work through use of specialist team.
In contrast to this a functional manager is the one who manages the functional unit in an organization. For example, a production manager manages the production department. Functional manager works within the organization whereas the project manager may work outside the organization.
