Suppose we are performing an analog to digital data conversion of the following analog signal: 10sin(2pi*120)+15sin(2pi*240).

a. What is the minimum sampling frequency required to adequately sample this signal?

b. Assume we wish to properly reconstruct the signal well, i.e. we care about the data. what is the range of practical sampling frequencies for this signal?

Solution

the given equation is,

   10sin(2pi*120)+15sin(2pi*240)

general expression:

A1sin[2pi*f1] + A2sin(2pi*f2)

sampling frequency is equal to the two times the highest

expected frequency component in the sampled signal.

that is, fs = 2*240 = 480 Hz

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

the range of the frequencies are, 240 Hz and 480 Hz
