The difference between the two is that HRM strategic plans are long term plans created in conjunction with the organization’s business strategies. The main concern of the HRM strategic plan is to evaluate, review, and manage the main areas of HR including staffing, development of workplace policies, compensation and benefits administration, retention, training and development, employment laws, and worker protection (Delph, p. 4-5) and ensure they align with the organization’s overall business strategies. The HR plans are short term and address specific issues within the human resources department (Delph, p. 48) to ensure that the goals in the HRM strategic plans are met.

Each time change occurs within the company such as impact from internal or external sources, higher growth prediction, a massive hiring, etc., the business strategies, HRM strategic plans and HR plans must be reviewed, evaluated, analyzed and adapted appropriately to remain successful.
