The last event I had to plan was for my company, where we brought together the major stakeholders of a project together. We went through a defined process consisting of the following steps:

Having a defined process helped in planning of the event smoothly, as it allowed us to ensure none of the steps or actions required for the event are forgotten of missed during the whole process. Also, since it was a team work, having a process allowed the team to work more effectively and efficiently and also, helped in better job distribution. Absence of a process would have led to confusion on job roles and responsibilities within the team, and also would have opened the possibilities of mismanagement or missing important preparations related to the event.
