50 people took a survey. 27 said they liked football, 22 liked baseball. 23 liked soccer, 10 liked football and baseball, 6 liked baseball and soccer, 11 liked football and soccer, and 4 liked all three. How many like baseball, but not football? ( Use a Venn diagram to solve )
Solution
let f : football , s: soccer , b: baseball
universal set U = 50 ,f = 27,b =22,s=23, f and b =10, b and s = 6, f and s = 11, fand b and s = 4
now baseball, but not football = b - (b and f) = 22 -10 =12
