Choose a company and some specific product (or service) they produce for which you believe considerable redesigning, repackaging, or re-configuring could result in substantial increases in the company\'s sales and profits. Once you have completed your research, address the following questions: What is the product\'s history, who makes it, how long has it been on the market, what is it\'s function. Include any competition this product has and how this product \"stacks up\" against the competition. What are some of the challenges to market acceptance? Explain how you would reconfigure the product or service to grow sales and profits. Discuss how you would market this product once redesigned. Minimum of 250 words

Product History: John Deere low Hp tractors. John Deere has been producing tractors in the range of 24 hp to 35 hp to compete in Asian markets, where farmers have lesser cultivable land for themselves. These tractors are not only used for ploughing but also used as a mode of transportation of cultivated crops, irrigation etc. This product has been in the market since a decade when John Deere found a suitable market in Asian countries and its sales was challenged by home grown tractor manufacturing organizations such as Mahindra and Mahindra.

John Deere, in order to keep its product price low by reducing the setup change cost, has been using 3 cylinders in all tractors in the range of 24 hp to 75 hp. They have been mainly relying on the fuel injector to create different tractor variants. But despite that the tractors haven\'t been able to perform as efficiently as the competitors nor they could keep the cost low. Mahindra and Mahindra has been manufacturing low hp tractors with 2 cylinders and higher hp tractors with 4 cylinders, which gives them the leverage to vary the product hp as per requirement and also maintain very low cost of the finished product.

The best way to reconfigure the product will be to use lower structural blocks and cylinders as to save on the cost of the product. This will necessarily include change the product design, change the supplier or develop the existing supplier and market the product mentioning the specific changes made in the product. This should also include meeting the customer needs as per the parameters such as speed, power, durability etc.
