8. What is the approximate temperature at which creep deformation becomes an important consideration for most metals?

Solution

Creep is an important phenomenon observed for materials working at elevated temperatures.

It is a slow and progressive deformation under constant loading loading condition at elevated temperature.

For all metals working under temperature greater than its recrystallization temperature,Creep becomes a vital factor to be considered.

Recrystallization temperature occurs at 0.4*Absolute melting temperature of metal (K).

For example, For iron melting temperature is 1775 K, so its recrystallization temperature will be 0.4 *1775=710 K

So whenever iron works under temperature greater than 710 K, it will undergo creep phenomenon.
