Graph the Function Fx 3x2 18x 4 State the VERTEX DOMAIN R

Graph the Function F(x) = 3x^2 + 18x + 4. State the VERTEX, DOMAIN, RANGE and the open intervals ON which the graph is increasing or decreasing.

Solution

f(x) = 3x^2 + 18x +4

= 3(x^2 +6x ) +4

= 3(x+3)^2 -27 +4

f(x) = 3(x+3)^2 - 23

Vertex : ( -3, -23)

Domain : all real ( -inf, inf)

range : y >= -24 ; [ -23 , inf )

Interval of increase/decrease:

before vertex f(x) --- decrease: (-inf , -3)

aftre vertex f(x) -- increase ; ( - 3, inf)
