·\"imentally to 3. 10 points. For each of the four equilibrium relationships given in problem 2 above, identify the weaker and stronger acids and bases. Explain your choices. 4. 10 points. Would you expect NaHSO, to form an acidic or a basic solution when dissolved in water ? Why? 5. 10 points. Would you expect NH,NO, to form an acidic or a basic solution when dissolved in water ? Why? 6. 10 points. How many moles of H2 gas are formed when 11.4 grams of calcium is dissolved by hydrochloric acid: Ca2. (aq) + 2 Cl. (aq) + H2 (g) -> ca Ca (s) + 2HCl (aq) -

Solution

The question number 3 is linked to question number 2, and its description. I am solving the first four problem as per Chegg guidelines post multiple question to get the remaining answers

Q4)

NaHSO4 ------ Na+ + HSO4-

NaHSO4 will give HSO4- ions in solution, which can provide very less amount of H+ in the solution making it act as a weak acid.

Q5)

NH4NO3 is a salt of weak base (NH4OH) and strong acid (HNO3). The presence of strong acid will dominate over presence of weak base and make the solution slightly acidic or act as a weak acid

Q6)

Ca(s) + 2HCl(aq) ------ Ca(2+)(aq) + 2Cl-(aq) + H2(g)

Number of moles of Calcium = Mass/molar mass = 11.4/40 = 0.285 mole

1 mole of Ca will give rise to 1 mole of H2 gas

Hence number of moles of H2 gas formed = 0.285 mole

Q7)

The reaction happening will be

NaOH(aq) + HCl(aq) ------ NaCl + H2O

Number of moles of NaOH = Number of moles of HCl

Volume of NaOH(in L) * Molarity of NaOH = Volume of HCl (in L) * Molarity of HCl

38.6/1000 * 0.150 = 25/1000 * Molarity of HCl

Molarity of HCl = 38.6/25 * 0.150 = 0.2316M
