A school is paying $0.09/kWh for electric power. To reduce its power billt he ol installs a wind turbine with rated power of 30 kW. If the turbine operates 2200 hours per year at the rated power, determine the amount of electric power generated by the wind turbine and the money saved by the school. A tank is filled with oil whose density is 850. If the volume of the tank is 2m^3, determine the amount of mass in the tank.

Solution

Electric power developed = rated power * no.of hours

= 30 * 2200

= 66000 kwhr

Money saved = power developed * cost

= 66000 * 0.09

= 5940 dollars

5) Density = mass / volume

So, Mass = density * volume

= 850 * 2

= 1700 kg
