Write an equation for the line that passes through the point

Write an equation for the line that passes through the point (-2, 7) and is parallel to -4x - 2y = 21. Use slope-intercept form. A. y = -2x + 3 B. y = -2x - 3 C. y = 2x + 3 D. y = 2x - 3

Solution

Slope of line -4x-2y=21 can be found out as

2y=-4x-21

so, y=-2x-21/2

so m=-2

so our line also has m=-2(GIVEN BOTH ARE PARALLEL)

Let our line be y=mx+c

so y=-2x+c

satisfy point(-2,7)

7=-2(-2)+c

c=7-3=4

so our line is

y=-2x+3

 Write an equation for the line that passes through the point (-2, 7) and is parallel to -4x - 2y = 21. Use slope-intercept form. A. y = -2x + 3 B. y = -2x - 3
