When new ideas are introduced in services, products or processes, they rarely have an impact that increases uniformly over time. Usually performance follows an S-shaped progression. discuss a development process of a product or service within your workplace that has followed any of these two paths. You may use a product or service from another organization you know well if you can not find one within your workplace.
Solution
Answer: When the new and innovative products are offered they follow an S shaped progression while performing. I witnessed this phenomenon when I was working at a fast food restaurant. No restaurant in our area offered home delivery service. It was our restaurant which started this service for the customers. In the early stages of introduction of home delivery by our restaurant, very few people in the area knew about that our restaurant offered such service. Therefore there were very few orders and most of the times the home delivery staff had no work. Gradually as the word started spreading bout this service the orders started to grow and the owner had to employ more home delivery staff. Gradually the other restaurants came to know about the success of this service and many other restaurants started offering this service. The competition starting increasing and new strategies like 30 minutes delivery started to emerge at the marketplace. After few months nearly all the restaurants in the area were offering this service and the competition became so tough that the orders started declining and the owner had to lay off some home delivery staff. This example exhibits all the four stages of start up, growth, maturity and decline of an S curve progression of development process of an innovative product or service.
