Determine the quadrant in which the terminal side of theta lies. (a) cot theta 0 (b) sin theta > 0 and sec theta > 0

solution :-- (a)

since we know that in ivth quadrant cos is positive and cot is negative ,

that is in 4th quadrant cos >0 and cot <0 . therefore must lies in 4th quadrant .

(b) sin >0 and sec >0 , it is posible only in ist quadrant. hence must lies in ist quadrant .
