Mintzberg has proposed three managerial roles for being an effective leader. A good leader needs to take strategic decisions at critical times and the managerial roles help the leaders to take good decisions. The theory proposed by Mintzberg states that there are 10 managerial roles and they are grouped into three areas namely interpersonal, decisional and informational.

Interpersonal roles detail the relationship that the manager has to have with their members. It is pertinent that managers maintain a good relationship to people both inside and outside the organization.

Decisional role- An important task that a manager does is a decisional role. The manager needs to take good decisions at all times to effectively manage the teams.

Informational role- A good manager needs to monitor, collect and disseminate the information to their team members for the benefit of the employees.

A good leader sets a clear vision to the team members to achieve the goals, encourages and motivates them to achieve the organizational goals.
