governments differ on where the power of the state should be held. Unitary systems concentrate the power within the central government and little or no authority is granted to the component areas. In contrast, federal systems allow first-order civil divisions to have some autonomy, while the central government maintains authority over some areas. Take a moment to compare and contrast the strengths and weaknesses of each system.

Solution
Let us understand the systems and their features separately and you can arrive at the answer in your own words.
Unitary system as the name suggests is governed by one central body of government. It places its power in one central governing system and ensures that all the political power is radiating outwards from this central body of government. Thus very little political power actually exists outside the center. Therefore power and authority is centralized and esources are shared by the central government with the different regions of the country. The central government is tasked with taking all major decisions and the powers of this governing system is uniformly applied throughout the region. If smaller units coagulate and are be controlled by the central body, then at any point of time, the conglomeration may be disbanded by the center without requiring the permission of any of the members of the conglomerate. Therefore this type of government is often referred to as a dictatorships or otherwise as totalitarian. Examples of Unitary monarchy governemnet is Morocco and Unitary(democratic) governement is France and Unitary republic governement is China among many.
A federal governing system is made up of a federal as well as local governing bodies. In this government the federal government encourages the local bodies to taketheir own decisions such that these decisions are reasonable to the country as a whole and the localities. Thus power andauthority of the center is diffused. Large countries adopt this type of government as it is more practical but multiple ethnicities within the country leads to varied laws and rules that are difficult to follow. This form of government often empowers the local governemnet to become stronger leading to overall productivity. Example for this kind o governement includes US.
