Provide two reasons that scientists would like to do more research with embryonic stem cells, despite the fact that it is more controversial than the use of adult stem cells.

Ethically, there is a lot of controversy for embryonic stem cells because for production of embryonic stem cells requires destruction of embryos . The advantages of embryonic stem cells over adult stem cells are that :

--> embryonic stem cells are pluripotent as compared to multi potent adult stem cells. Pluripotent stem cells are derived from the the inner cell mass of the embryo and thus can give rise to any mature cell type , whereas adult stem cells can differentiate into cells of a particular lineage .

--> DNA damage is seen as a part of ageing in both stem cells and the cells that comprise the stem cell environment. This is considered to be responsible for increasing stem cell dysfunction with ageing. This doesn\'t happen with embryonic stem cells as they have unlimited expansion and pluripotency, thus more research aiming towards embryonic stem cells.
