Points:

Students were mainly instructed in Latin

The subjects of study comprised (liberal) arts, theology, medicine and law

Liberal arts included arithmetic,geometry, astronomy, music, grammar , logic and rhetoric (the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing--oratory , essay writing)

Physics, metaphysics and moral philosophy were also included.
