(6 points) Many signaling processes rely on depolarization or hyperpolarization of cellular membranes. Briefly (no more than three sentences) describe two ways in which ion transport could be altered to result in hyperpolarization of a cellular membrane. e.

  Solution
Hyperpolarization is a state in which cellular membrane potential becomes more negative and it can be achieved by two ways.
Case 1) When membrane channels open and they allow only positive ions (Example: K+) to flow out of the cell, that results to negative membrane potential.
Case 2) When membrane channels open and they allow only negative ions (Example: Cl-) to flow into the cell, that also results to hyperpolarization.
