A step-up transformer decreases current from 120 A to 6 A. The secondary coil has 800 turns and voltage 500 V. Find power, voltage amt number of turns in the primary coil.

Solution

i2 = 6A , i1 = 120A

n2 = 800 , n1 = ?

V2 = 500V V1 = ?

from i1/i2 = n2/n1

so n1 = n2 * i2 / i1 = 800 * 6 / 120 = 40 terns

from i1/i2 = V2 / V1

so V1 = V2 * i2 / i1 = 500 * 6 / 120 = 25V

power P1 = V1 * i1 = 25 * 120 = 3kw
