4. Solve the following system of equations for x and y. Find the product y 2x 3y 14 3x 2y ANSWER:

2x +3y = 5

3x -2y =14

Solve by eleimnation of variables:

multiply equation 1 by 3 and equation 2 by 2 :

6x +9y = 15

6x -4y = 28

13y = -13

y = -1

solve for x: 2x = 5-3y

2x = 5 - 3(-1)

x = 4

Product x*y = -1*4 = -4
