If the hypotenuse of a right triangle is 1 m more than the longer leg, and the shorter leg is 11 m long, find the length of the longer leg. The longer leg is m.
Solution
shorter length = 11m
let the longer length be x
hypotenuse = (x+1)
so, by pythogoras theorem
11^2 +(x)^2 = (x+1)^2
so x=60m
so longer leg = 60m
