My instructor said there will be question with finding area

My instructor said there will be question with finding area of polar curve...The thing is I dont see any homework problems with needing to find the perimeter. How do I find perimeter of polar curve? Do I use the Length of a curve formula L=integral a to b square root(r^2 +(dr/dtheta)^2)...Does that give me the perimeter? Thanx

Solution

yes it will give you the integral but if the integral is complex you many need to use a graphic calculator to solve it . or use wolframalpha.com to calculate the integral
