Protein kinase that is activated in response to cell stimula
Protein kinase that is activated in response to cell stimulation by many different growth factors and that mediates cellular responses by phosphorylating specific target proteins. (two words, sort of)
Solution
Growth factors bind to tyrosine kinase and makes it a dimer. TK is autophosphorylated which binds to Gef- adaptor complex. This complex activates Ras protein by binding of GTP. GTP-Ras complex activates a cascade of kinase events. By these events, the transcription factors are activated which initiates the respective transcription pathway.
