a b c Given that A d e f and 5 g h i find the value of the f

a b c Given that A d e f and 5 g h i find the value of the following determinants

Solution

If one column of given determinant is multiplied by a constant \'k\', value of determinant also gets multiplied by same constant \'k\'

Now,

In given case,

|A| = 5

(given)

Now in newer determinant (say B)

First column is obtained by multiplying 3 to first column of determinant A

while 2nd column is same

and 3 rd column is obtained by multiplying -2 to third column of earlier determinant A

Hence

If |A| = 5

then |B| = 5 * (3) * (-2)

i.e. |B| = -30
