WWYD #4 A coworker confides to you that he is going to begin sending emails to your employer\'s internal corporate blog site, which serves as a suggestion box. He plans to use an anonymous remailer and sign the messages \"Anonymous\". Your friend is afraid of retribution from superiors but wants to call attention to instances of racial and sexual discrimination observed during his five years as an employee with the firm. What would you say to your friend?

Here is given five step decision making process for the problem :

Problem Statement: To make employer aware of racism and sexual discrimination in company.

Alternatives :

a) Approach employer with various examples and show them that how racism and discrimination is being taken place in company by writing in suggestion box.

b) Ask coworkers/superiors, who are supporting racism and sexual discrimination, to look into equal opportunity policy and ask employer to make policy if there is no such policy. ask coworkers to follow rules specified in policy.

c) Ask other employees who are also against it to support you and Complain about problem to line manager who can solve problem or to employer himself. .

Evaluation to choose alternative :

Your friend is afraid of retribution from superiors. so we can say that he may not be able to do (a) and (b) in given alternatives. His request might be ignored if he doesn\'t have strong examples for racism and sexual discrimination. Asking coworkers to read policy may not work if coworker is of unethical nature.

So best option is to complain about such activities to union department of the company. You should also support your friend to get it done. and you should ask other employees who are facing problems and are against racism and sexual discrimination.

Implementation of decision :

Talk to all coworkers in your department and ask for a support. Then arrange meeting with them to discuss about the problems and ask to share experiences to all who faced similar problem. Keep a list of all problems faced to show line manager as examples. Finding examples is a Important task. By giving examples you can show better picture of problems.

Ask all employees who are supporting you to sign a document to show their support and mail it to manager along with problem description along with one or two examples.Suggest them to arrange a meeting to discuss about the problem.

Show all examples you have gathered and ask your coworkers to share their experiences in meeting and ask line manager to take actions to have a working environment that support equality.

Evaluate Result :

if manager takes actions and make a policy against racism and sexual discrimination then you will get a working environment which support equality.
