Calculate the allele frequency and genotype frequency in a population of 500 flowers in which 275 are homozygous dominant, 137 are heterozygous, and 88 are homozygous recessive.

Solution

The allelic frequency are.. :-

Homozygous dominant = (2*275) + (137)/(2*500)

=> 0.687..

Homozygous recessive = (2*88)+(137)/(2*500)

=> 0.313..

The genotype frequencies ate:-

Homozygous dominant = 275/500 => 0.55.

Hetrzygous = 137/500 => 0.274

Hetrzygous recessive = 88/500 => 0.176
