How do viruses regulate transcription?
Models autoregulatory loop versus cascade regulation.
What modification are made to transcripts (ex. 5’ cap), what function do they play, when are they added?
Solution
Viruses transcribe their genome by regulating the host genome and the mechanism is very complex. Some viruses possess their own RNA polymerase and require 5\' 7 mG cap which they snatch from the host ( called as cap snatching) . Some viruses silence the host genome and use their DNA polymerase for replication of their own genome and then transcribe it.
