A fan motor turns at a given angular speed. How does the angular speed of the tips of the blades change if a fan of greater diameter is installed on the motor? Explain. In your own words, explain the difference between 1 radian and 1 degree.
Solution
If the fan motor rotates with angular speed , costant
The motion of fan is rotation. But for every particle velocity(V) is different and calculated by considering their circular motion.
Then , relation in uniform circular motion , V = r = constant
Then V is directly proportional to r.
So when diameter of fan blades increases -> radius increases and hence velocity of particle at tip of baldes increases.
--------->> Difference between 1 radian and 1° :-
Degree is simply angular measurement.
Radian is the measurement that is based of circle radius. Basically , if you take r distance and wrap around outside of circle , then the angle formed that covers radius is said to be 1 radian. It takes almost 3 radians to half a circle , exactly it is 3.14 radian thats why radian.
Simply , 2r = 360° => r =180°
1 radian = 1 r = 180/ = 180/3.14 = 57.295°
