Explain the kinetic energy in a stationary ice cube
Explain the kinetic energy in a stationary ice cube

Solution

Stationary ice cube possess the kinetic energy due to the motion of the molecules of water. We can say the motion of the molecules of water in the ice water is slow compared to the liquid water. But still it contain the kinetic energy.

For example, if we have to this ice cubes in the liquid nitrogen which has boiling temperture around -200 , the ice cubes start boiling. Hence, in comparision to liquid nitrogen, ice cubes have greater kinetic energy.

From the above observations, we can say the kinetic energy is a relative term. Every substance/compound possess kinetic energy. In some substance, we can see the kinetic motion and in some, we can\'t see through our eyes like ice water.
