Gallstone:-A gallstone is a stone formed within the gallbladder out of bile component. Gallblader is small part which is located in the liver.

Gallbladder stores bile until you eat, then releases bile into your small intestine to help digest food

.Bile is made in the liver. It contains a mix of products such as bilirubin, cholesterol, and bile acids and salts.

Bile ducts are drainage \"pipes\" that carry bile from the liver to the gallbladder and from the gallbladder to the small intestine.

Gallstones are the most common cause of blocked bile ducts.

Stones typically form inside the gallbladder and can block the common bile duct, the drainpipe at the base of the liver.

If the duct remains blocked, bilirubin backs up and enters the blood stream.

Causes:-

Bile is a liquid released by the liver. It contains cholesterol, bile salts, and waste products such as bilirubin. Bile salts help s our body to break down (digest) fats.

Bile passes out of the liver through the bile ducts and is stored in the gallbladder. After a meal, it is released into the small intestine.

When the bile ducts become blocked, bile builds up in the liver.

The blockage can also be caused by infections. This is more commonly seen in persons with weakened immune systems.

Thetreatment is to remove the blockage. Stones may be removed using an endoscope during an ERCP.

In some cases, surgery is required to bypass the blockage. The gallbladder will usually be surgically removed if the blockage is caused by gallstones.

A tube may need to be placed to allow drainage.
