China: China has a strong internet infrastructure. The internet exchange points exist in three tiers. The points are: (i) national level (ii) core level (iii) metropolitan area network points. The speed of the internet is good in China. The speed was 3.39 Mb/s in 2015 (almost at par with the global average). The infrastructure is now a mix of public as well as commercial.

India: The internet infrastructure in India has a weak backbone and is mainly dependend on satellite links. This is changing with many companies in the private sector are laying fiber optics throughout the country to improve the internet infrastructure and improve connectivity throughout the nation. The infrastructure is now a mix of public as well as commercial. India is connected to the backbones in USA through cable systems in Mumbai, Cochin, Chennai. For example the cable system TIC connects Chennai and Singapore and the cable system FLAG-FEA connects Mumbai with Europe.
