What is a time in your personal or professional life where a goal affected the negotiation process? What was the goal, and how did it influence the negotiation?
Solution
I had a goal of becoming financial analyst after completion of my business graduation . I was offered a job by a reputed financial firm and was exited about the job offer . During the interview process, I became aware that the salary offered by this firm was below my expectation . I was not in a position to negotiate for a higher salary because this is my first job which will help to reach my goal of becoming a financial analyst. I was apprehensive that if I start negotiating for higher salary, I might be rejected for the position as other candidates were available who had similar skills that I possessed. My goal became a barrier for negotiation and I finally accepted the job without negotiating for a higher salary.
