We continually hear about interest groups in the news. Understanding this, what is the relationship between interest groups and government? How does this apply to government-created interest groups? What is an interest group –
An interest group is an organized group formally made in conjecture to make a group of people with same shared concerns, thinking to influence the public policies in their favor. Interest groups share a common policy of influencing the government regulation in favor of themselves.
Relationship between government and interest group – both government and interest group share a common interest however government has its own candidates and political parties to run the state, however interest group are meant to work on the policies which interest the public. There is another difference between government parties and interest groups are that parties carry a wide interest in all policies, there main motto is to take wider group of the people to influence under their caps. To gain more and more voters, however interest groups do not work in such way.
Interest groups serve purpose in government and organize group of people working towards government goals. eg Their specific purposes within the government, however, differ. Interest groups do not want to operate the government, and they do not put forth political candidates, even though they support candidates who will promote their interests if elected or reelected.
