THEORIES RELATED TO THE PSYCHOLOGY OF CRIMINALS:
Different theorists hold different opinions on why and how an individual becomes a criminal and find out reasons as to why they involve in wrong doings. No one is a born criminal, it is the situation that makes an individual bad and forces him to commit crime. There are number of theories that are related to the psychology of criminals and rule out reasons as to why criminals are involved in committing crimes and why they feel satisfied in doing so:
1. Rational Choice Theory: according to this theory people who commit crime generally act in their own self interest and decide on whether to commit crime or not after analyzing the pros and cons of it and weighing the risks of being caught or punished. They take the decision rationally before committing any crime.
2. Strain Theory: this theory states that if any individual faces failure in life and cannot match up the societal expectations by fair means then he tries to attain success by involving in illegal affairs and commit crime to get success in short duration of time.
3. Labeling Theory: according to this theory the law authorities and the people sitting in power label the acts accordingly and if someone commits those acts is consider as a criminal. And after an individual is labeled as a criminal then the society takes away all its benefits, opportunities, societal pleasures. Doing this can also add up to the criminal behavior of the individual and worsen the situation.
4. Social Disorganization Theory: this theory states that the behavior of individuals depends on the surroundings or society they live in. The physical and social environment are responsible for the choices an individual makes. If the society in which an individual lives is disorganized in its working then this can result into the birth of more criminal minded individuals and add up to high crime rates.
5. Sociological Theory: this theory states that society is the main reason for the making or breaking of any individual. It is the level of person\'s social status he holds within the family, workplace and society which will determine his behavior. If he holds weak and wrong status then chances of indulging in crime increases.
6. Contemporary Trait Theory: this theory states that if any individual is involved in any criminal activity then it is mainly because of some kind of abnormal physical or biological trait. It is the chemical changes in the brain that ignite the sense of crime and the individual conducts crime. Moreover the tendency to commit crime can be inherited, or some kind of neurological problems, or any kind of mental disorder.
7. Psychodynamic Theory: this theory states that individuals who commit crime often are the ones who have their damaged egos and in order to satisfy their damaged egos they commit crimes to regain their ego and get their status back in the society. The level of immaturity increases and the ego damages which results into committing crime.
CONCLUSION:
No individual is a born criminal rather it is society that forces someone to be a criminal. The rate of cyber crime is increasing with high speed and there are number of websites which help individuals to become criminals. Mostly it is the internal urge to commit a crime that drive an individual to become criminal. It becomes the duty of law enforcement bodies to keep a track on these criminals and to make efforts to stop them. Moreover punishments must also be framed by the agencies so that these criminals are punished according to the crimes they commit. It is important to note that the punishment must be given on fair basis to the criminals and as soon as possible. If law enforcement authorities take excess time to punish those criminals then this will weaken the system and will give criminals more time to save themselves. Also the business houses must make efforts to protect their computer systems from these criminals by adding number of software and anti viruses into the system. Cyber crimes can be dealt with properly and people can be saved from such crimes only if precaution is taken and steps are taken right from the very beginning.
