Determine the internal normal force shear force and bending

Determine the internal normal force, shear force, and bending moment at point E in the beam. There is a hinge at Point C There is NOT a hinge at Point E Point E is midway between A and B The support at A only resists moment, not vertical or horizontal force

Solution

This beam has a hinge and is staticaly determinate:

Hinge will not have moment.

Separate into two sections for analysis: PART to left of hinge and part to Right of hinge

Right side:moments about hinge:==> D=0

Left side: Ma- 3B+150*7=0, B+C=0 ==> B=150 up, Ma= 600

Ma is directed in opposite direction to Moment at B. So the moment line will cross from negative to positive ( or vice versa depending on sign convention). At point E (midpt of AB, the moment line intersects at 0.

Since momnet there is 0, the shear and deflection are also zero.

 Determine the internal normal force, shear force, and bending moment at point E in the beam. There is a hinge at Point C There is NOT a hinge at Point E Point
