3 A rabbit breeder crossed a pure breeding white normal coat

3. A rabbit breeder crossed a pure breeding white normal coated buck (male) with a purebreeding black Havana doe (female) with a satin coat. All the offspring were Havana. black with normal coats. He then crossed two of the Havana black with normal coats in the hopes of obtaining a satin black Havana rabbit. What is the likelihood of his being successful? Show all of the crosses used to explain your answer. 4. In pea plants, P purple and p white, T-tall and t- dwarf. Give the phenotype for each of the individuals listed below. a. PPTt d. Pptt e. PpTt What will be the genotype ratio and phenotype ratio ifthe plant in \"e\" is selfed (crossed with itself)?

Solution

In rabbits balck coat is dominant CC is dominant over white cc

Normal coat NN dominant over satin nn .

The cross involves pure white normal male with pure white satin .

The genotypes would be

white normal (pure) male ccNN X black(pure) satin CCnn .

ccNN X CC nn

the gametes formed would be cN and C n

the off spring would have the genotype CcNn and they are black heterozygous with normal coat

now cross between two normal black Havanas whose genotype will be CcNn

since it is hetrozygous for both the characters the gametes produced will be CN,Cn,cN,cn

typical Mendelian cross

the chances of getting black Havana with satin coat will be 1/16.

4.the phenotypes would be P is dominant over P and T is dominant over t

a.PPTt -purple tall as it has PP and Tt

b.ppTT -white but tall pp Recessive white TT tall dominant.

c.pptt- white dwarf.

d.Pptt -purple dwarf

e.PpTt- purple tall heterozygous.

the phenotypic ratio would be 9:3:3:1

the genotypic ratio will be  1:2:1:2:4:2:1:2:1.

 3. A rabbit breeder crossed a pure breeding white normal coated buck (male) with a purebreeding black Havana doe (female) with a satin coat. All the offspring
