5 Sources of Power :

1 . Legimate Power: In this mode of power, we make polite and clear requests.Its certian agreement among the organizational team members regarding the roles and rules to be expected from them. It derived from theparticular position in the organization\'s hierarchy.The CEO of the company has all the legimate powers.

2. Reward Power : The power of a person and his ability to influence the allocation of incentives.This helps greatly motivating the employees .There are certain incentives the company\'s offer such as :

3 .Coercive Power : It It refers to the extent at which the person \'s ability to influence others by threating , giving punishments and demotions.It maintains the discipline in the organization . Thsi mode of power helps to control the behaviours of others in the team.The way to maintain the company ethics and organization\'s policies and norms.

4 .Expert Power. Knowledge is a an assest to the person.Expert power is obtained by a person as it is derived from the possessing of knowledge and expertise in a particular field.

5 . Referent Power : Its the extent in which the person has the interpersonal relationships .The relationships that a person cultivateswith other people in the organization. People with more referencepower tends to attain more respect in the organization.The personal connections that a person has with the key persons in the organization.

4 Contingencies of Power :

1 . Substitutability : Its a degree to which the people have alternatives in accessing the resources.There are no other substitues for the rewards and resources the leader can control.

2 . Centrality. This represents how much important an individual job is and the number of dependency of others on him and his job to accomplish their jobs.

3 . Discretion : The degree to which the managers have the extent to make their own decisions.

4 . Visibility : The intensity of how much clear and awareness among others regarding the leader\'s power and positions.The undrestanding levels of his vision and goals in the followers.
