An object whose mass is 0.5 leg has a velocity of 30 m/s. Determine the final velocity, in m/s, if the kinetic energy of the object decreases by 130 J. the change in elevation, in m, associated with a 130 J change in potential energy. Let g = 9.81 m/s^2.

Solution

solution:

1)here change in kinetic energy is given by

d(Kinetic energy)=(1/2)*m*(V1^2-V2^2)

on putting all value we get that

130=.5*.5*(30^2-V2^2)

V2=19.4935 m/s

2)change in potential energy is due to change in height of object or with respect to center of earth as absolute distance and it is given by

d(P.E.)=m*g*(h1-h2)

130=.5*9.81(h1-h2)

h1-h2=26.5035 m

hence change in elevation is (h1-h2)=26.5035 m
