Suppose we have to deploy pervasive computing environment using platforms: desktop, laptop and smart phones.
a. How it could be beneficial or restricted if analyzed on parameters of cost, energy consumption, computing speed and connectivity?
b. Is there some single option/platform better for all situations? Justify your answer
Solution
a)Pervasive computers allow microprocessors to be embedded in the day to day objects which allows to combine the wireless technologies,,internet, voice and human computer interaction.In terms of cost it will be ore because a number of devices need to be conncted which increases hardware cost.The energy consumpton will be more because total power for processing and allowing the above functions increases leading into overall power and energy consumption.
The computing speed will increase as the processor will be inbuilt and the processing speed will increase as a single processor will immediately handle all requests.The connectivity may vary if there are many processes then the processor may become slow as a result the connectivity may decrease due to an overload of requests by the user now.
b)A single platform can be cloud computing where all data is kept on the cloud and can be accessed by the computers as and when it is wanted.This allows faster access to data without any problems in organizations.
