Explain why if a runner completes a 6.2 mile race in 32 minutes, then he must have been running at exactly 11 mi/hr at least twice in the race. Assume the runners speed is 0 at the finish line.
Solution
average velocity=6.2/(32/60) =11.625 since he starts from 0 and ends at 0 he must have a velocity large than this velocity at some time since he moves continously so it increases from 0 to above 11.625 and then decreases to 0 so it crosses 11 twice
